War is generally full of demonstrations of ego and will. Domination and battle is full of ego. Propaganda is part of war and politics, and is likewise full of lies, deception, and ego. All of this has purpose in human survival and evolution.

Gaining market share, gaining a platform. He was a salesman and lecturer by talent. He even changed his name from Carnagey circa 1922 to sound more affluent, and sell more of himself and his books.
